چکیده
Significance Coping with UV-B is crucial for plant survival in sunlight. The photoreceptor UVR8 regulates gene expression associated photomorphogenesis, acclimation, and stress tolerance. photon reception by homodimers results monomerization, followed interaction the key signaling protein COP1. We have discovered a hypersensitive that confers strongly enhanced tolerance generated variant based on underlying mutation shows extremely constitutive activity. Our findings provide mechanistic insight into how plants respond acclimate to radiation.

Constitutively active UVR8 photoreceptor variant in Arabidopsis.
Arabidopsis thaliana UV RESISTANCE LOCUS 8 (UVR8) is a UV-B photoreceptor that initiates photomorphogenic responses underlying acclimation and UV-B tolerance in plants. UVR8 is a homodimer in its ground state, and UV-B exposure results in its instantaneous monomerization followed by interaction with CONSTITUTIVELY PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1 (COP1), a major factor in UV-B signaling. UV-B photoreception ...
متن کاملThe UV-B photoreceptor UVR8: from structure to physiology.
Low doses of UV-B light (280 to 315 nm) elicit photomorphogenic responses in plants that modify biochemical composition, photosynthetic competence, morphogenesis, and defense. UV RESISTANCE LOCUS8 (UVR8) mediates photomorphogenic responses to UV-B by regulating transcription of a set of target genes. UVR8 differs from other known photoreceptors in that it uses specific Trp amino acids instead o...

Although UV-B makes up only a small fraction of the sunlight that reaches the Earth’s surface, it serves as an important signal in plants, with effects on plant architecture and metabolism, for instance (reviewed in Jenkins, 2009). Arabidopsis thaliana UV RESISTANCE LOCUS8 (UVR8) has recently been established to be a UV-B photoreceptor, opening the door to elucidating UV-B signaling pathways in...
متن کاملUV-B Perceived by the UVR8 Photoreceptor Inhibits Plant Thermomorphogenesis
Small increases in ambient temperature can elicit striking effects on plant architecture, collectively termed thermomorphogenesis [1]. In Arabidopsis thaliana, these include marked stem elongation and leaf elevation, responses that have been predicted to enhance leaf cooling [2-5]. Thermomorphogenesis requires increased auxin biosynthesis, mediated by the bHLH transcription factor PHYTOCHROME-I...
متن کاملThe UVR8 UV-B Photoreceptor: Perception, Signaling and Response.
Ultraviolet-B radiation (UV-B) is an intrinsic part of sunlight that is accompanied by significant biological effects. Plants are able to perceive UV-B using the UV-B photoreceptor UVR8 which is linked to a specific molecular signaling pathway and leads to UV-B acclimation. Herein we review the biological process in plants from initial UV-B perception and signal transduction through to the know...
